LIKE A TREE

Fr. Noailles loved nature

For him trees were symbols of life, of beginnings, of expansion, of fullness. The tree with its multiple branches nourished from the same sap was always considered by the founder as the most meaningful symbol to describe both the unity and the diversity of the Holy Family. The image of a great tree best embodies his vision and throughout his life he never ceased to give it concrete expression.

"In my dream the Holy Family appeared to me as a huge tree, a sort of oak with green branches. On it could be seen flowers and fruits of all seasons. There were birds of all colours and countries each with its own particular song. But at times they sang with one voice and in perfect harmony, seemed to say:

'Glory to God alone and all through Mary'."

"They are so united among themselves and this union is so essential to their existence that they can only live by the same life like these branches that, although charged with different fruit, are grafted on to the same tree and are nourished by the same sap."  Fr. Noailles

Such is the image that the Holy Family has transmitted from generation to generation.
