Declaration
for a common mission

(Drawn up at the Holy Family Congress 2002)

Following Jesus, who came on earth to gather together the scattered children of God,  (Jn. 11:52) we make our own the Founder's dream of being Family in the Church and in the world - a family where communion is built.  This communion is a gift received and celebrated and a mission to be accomplished.

Contemplating the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, who neither loved, sought nor desired anything but God Alone, and following the first Christian communities who had but one heart and mind, the whole Family has a passion for the Reign of God.

Our relationships as Family are characterised by simplicity and gentleness that promote unity.

As a Family on mission, living in different situations, in the diversity and complementarity of our vocations, we commit ourselves to:

  • promote human dignity,

  • respect the diversity of cultures,
  • work for a "new world" by concern for justice and peace,
  • safeguard the integrity of creation.

We need:

  • a common Holy Family formation,

  • information and communication.

It is Christ who unites us. As members of a Family on mission, each one finds her/his strength and foundation in the Word of God, prayer and the Eucharist.

The collaboration and participation of all the Holy Family vocations are necessary to live this commitment.
